ANMN Teej Festival 2024 Party

ANMN is excited to continue the tradition of celebrating Teej, the Nepali women’s festival, right here in Minnesota. Join us on Friday, August 23, 2024, for an evening of joyous festivities featuring a DJ, dancing, and traditional cuisine.

Teej is a vibrant festival celebrated by women across Nepal and around the world. Adorned in red sarees, red tika, and bangles, women come together to sing and dance to traditional folk songs for days. The festival holds special significance for married women, who receive a special invitation to return to their maternal homes and enjoy a feast.

The three-day celebration kicks off with a grand feast known as Dar, filled with singing and dancing. Following the festivities, women observe a 24-hour fast, abstaining from food and even water. It’s truly remarkable to witness women of all ages dancing energetically through the heat and rain, undeterred by their fasting. The fast concludes with a special ritual on the third day.
