July 8, 15, 22 & 30, and August 5, 12, and 19 (1 pm – 3 pm)

Note: Aug 5 and Aug 12 classes will be online due to technical challenges in the library. Parents will be informed of the zoom link by emai.

Exploring Nepali Language and Culture: A Journey through Words and Traditions 

Welcome to Nepali Language Class, where young learners embark on a fascinating journey to discover the beauty of the Nepali language and its rich cultural heritage. The class aims to provide resources, lessons, and engaging content to help the learners explore and develop their skills in the Nepali language and gain insights into Nepal’s customs and traditions.  

Beginner’s Corner: 

Essential Nepali Vocabulary: Learn commonly used words and phrases to initiate conversations, greet people, and introduce yourself in Nepali. 

Basic Grammar: Understand the fundamentals of Nepali grammar, including sentence structure, verb conjugation, and noun declension. 

Pronunciation Guide: Master the correct pronunciation of Nepali sounds and tones through audio examples and interactive exercises. 

Building Blocks: 

Intermediate Grammar: Deepen your understanding of Nepali grammar, including verb tenses, case markers, and adjective agreement. 

Idiomatic Expressions: Explore common idioms and expressions used in Nepali conversation and learn how to use them effectively. 

Sentence Construction: Practice constructing sentences of increasing complexity, expressing ideas and opinions using appropriate vocabulary and grammar structures. 

Cultural Insights: 

Festivals and Traditions: Explore the diverse festivals celebrated in Nepal, such as Dashain, Tihar, and Teej, and learn about their significance and rituals. 

Cultural Etiquette: Discover the customs, traditions, and social norms of Nepal, including greetings, gestures, and dining etiquette. 

Folklore and Mythology: Uncover the captivating tales of Nepali folklore and mythology, such as the story of Ramayana and Mahabharata, and their influence on Nepali culture. 

Reading and Writing Skills: Enhance your reading and writing skills through engaging texts, short stories, and essay prompts. 

Language Immersion: 

Conversational Practice: Engage in virtual conversations with fellow learners or native Nepali speakers to practice your language skills and improve fluency. 

Language Exchange: Connect with native Nepali speakers who are interested in learning your native language, fostering a mutually beneficial language exchange experience. 

 Eligibility:

Age: 8 – 16 years
